La Motte ~ Franschoek

It was a girl's day out.
We drove from Stellenbosch to Franschoek, and stopped in at La Motte wine estate before lunch

One is  aware of the tribute to  South African artist Pierneef
upon arival at this Franschoek wine estate.
You can actually visualise his  canvas with Plane trees...and truly appreciate the La Motte museum , easily accessible and so part of it all

PIERNEEF
is also the name of the much acclaimed
family friendly restaurant

 Modern styled informal chairs
in fresh apple green hues

 black on white graphics-
 pendant lights
and printed  canvas on chairs

Seating inside is more formal, complimented with original art  by Pierneef. Unusual but perfect here, chandeliers crafted with a mix of hand painted porcelain

La Motte Farm shop next to the restaurant is impossible to pass by with out entering, and more impossible not to take something home, even if it is just a fresh hot loaf of in house bread

Our lovely Proteas, so in abundance right now..

or fresh baked tarts and cupcakes, choc bon bons, and the truly sweet and tempting morsels prepared on the premises

gifts from and for  the  wine cellar

I found the perfect Father's day gift, numbered wine bottle bags to put DH right into style at the wine club meeting

Stone ground bread flour sold in printed cotton bags,  to bake your own bread as soon as you get home, for you will  want to share the experience

J'adore these very South African inspired aprons

for him and for her

one last stop on your way out
to greet the wine bearer's moment

La Motte Vineyards,
and what  more can I say ...
we are so privileged to live in this beautiful country
South Africa

Colette...this looks absolutely amazing. I have only been to Cape Town and have heard wonderful things about Stellenbosch, I can now appreciate why. The chandelier works for me...it is perfect for the setting. Being one who has a weakness for aprons..I would have to say 'yes please' to that one. Thanks so much for writing about your girls day out. Lovely!

Dear Colette, what a lovely place, that word seems so bland to describe this.....from the scenery to the interesting interior decor, the beautiful bronze, and enticing objects to purchase this winery exceeds most expectations!
Outings such as this with girlfriends is the ultimate day out, isn't it? Your area of South Africa looks amazing! N.xo

I'll start with the Proteas and their striking appearance...

How I would have loved to accompany you and friends for a girl's day out - such a gorgeous day and you have taken us on a virtual tour of the countryside, the winery, the restaurant. The chandeliers are divine!

How could I ever forget those aprons! Thanks for sharing this with us...

Colette it is you that inspires the best part of who I would like to be! I am touched that you see beauty in what I create, and of course my little french hand towels piled and stacked oh so, made me think of you, truly when I came across them I thought of you and all your linen beauty.

There comes a time when you don't care if your ever cut on it and sew it up as long as you can just sit and admire the beauty of the piled textile-ness just sittin there is beauty in itself. My little pieces are off the our U.S antique station that my shop is in and I am happy to add the just look at them beauty to my space.

Thank you dear So. Africa friend the beauty all around you is almost more than my soul can take (Sigh!)

Beauty to you and the inspiration that is all around you for the taking.

xoxo
